How to Create a Vision for 2025 (Even if You’re Busy)
As the new year begins, many of us feel inspired to dream about what lies ahead. But as a mother, juggling the endless demands of daily life, you might think there’s no time to sit down and map out your year. Let me reassure you—creating a vision for your life in 2025 doesn’t have to be complicated, time-consuming, or overwhelming.
Here’s how you can carve out just 30–40 minutes to reconnect with your dreams and set intentions that will guide you throughout the year.
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is often thought of as a collage of goals and dreams, but it doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. At its heart, it’s a simple, intentional practice to clarify what you want to cultivate in your life. It’s a way to realign with your values and focus on what truly matters to you.
A Simple Approach for Busy Mothers
If you’ve avoided vision boards in the past because they seemed too time-intensive or artistic, I encourage you to give it another try with this streamlined approach. Here’s what to do:
Find a Quiet Moment: Set aside 30–40 minutes when you can sit down with a piece of paper, or even your phone. Make a cup of tea, light a candle, or create any small ritual to mark this time as your own.
Let it Flow: Start writing whatever comes to mind. It might look like a to-do list at first, and that’s perfectly fine. As you write, notice if certain themes, feelings, or dreams emerge. Words like ease, health, abundance, or growth might naturally bubble up.
Organise Your Thoughts: Begin to group your ideas into categories that resonate with you. Here are some areas you might explore:
Wellbeing: How do you want to feel physically, mentally, and emotionally?
Living Space: What kind of sanctuary or atmosphere do you want to create at home?
Relationships: How will you nurture connections with family, friends, and your community?
Purpose: What meaningful work or creative projects will you prioritise?
Financial Flow: What does peace or abundance look like in your finances?
Adventure: What places, experiences, or opportunities would you love to explore?
Play & Joy: How will you invite more fun and light-heartedness into your life?
Bring It to Life: If you have more time, you can turn these ideas into a physical or digital vision board. Cut out images and words from magazines, or create a Pinterest board with visuals that inspire you. But even if you keep it as a simple list of intentions, it can serve as a powerful guide.
Why It Works
The magic of a vision board isn’t just in the act of creating it—it’s in what happens next. By giving attention to your dreams and intentions, you begin to align your energy and actions with them. As the saying goes, where attention goes, energy flows.
When you know what you’re working towards, it’s easier to make choices that support your goals, even in the small, busy moments of motherhood.
